Unreel

No more Reels, Shorts or endless video feeds. Unreel switches them off on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Reddit and five more sites at once. The rest of each site works as usual. Want ads gone too, or a whole site? Pick per site. Free, no account, nothing collected.

Made for real life

Pick what goes, site by site

Each site has its logo and its own switches in the toolbar popup and in Settings: Shorts or Reels, every video post, ads, or the whole site. Short video is on from the start. Ads and whole sites stay off until you turn them on.

One switch for everything

Turn Unreel off and on in one tap. The toolbar button shows how much it hid on the page you are on.

A 5-minute pause

When you really need it, pause a site for 5 minutes. It switches itself back on.

Strict mode

Turning anything off makes you wait a few seconds first. Long enough to change your mind at 1 a.m.

Let shared links play

Optional. When a friend sends you one YouTube Short, it opens as a normal video. The Shorts feed stays blocked.

My rules

Something slipping through before the next update? Hide it yourself with a CSS selector, or block any page.

Private by design

Unreel collects nothing.

No analytics, no accounts, no servers of ours. Unreel runs only on the sites it covers, makes no network requests of its own, and never sends what you browse anywhere. It does not read your messages, your account or what you type.

Free, with a tip jar

Unreel is free, made by one person at XT3. If it gives you your evenings back, you can say thanks with a tip. It pays for keeping up with every site each time it changes its layout.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Every feature, no account, no paid version. Unreel is made by one person at XT3. If it gives you your evenings back, you can leave a tip.

What does it collect?

Nothing. No analytics, no accounts, no servers of ours. It runs only on the sites it covers and never sends what you browse anywhere. Your settings follow you to your other computers only through your browser’s own sync, if you have it on.

Can it block ads too?

Yes, site by site, and off until you turn it on. It hides sponsored posts and ad slots in feeds on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Threads and Pinterest. It does not remove ads inside the video player.

Which browsers?

Chrome, Brave, Edge and Firefox. Brave installs it from the Chrome Web Store.

What if something slips through?

Social sites change their pages every few weeks. When a layout is new, Unreel still hides the post around the video and tells you, so you can report it in one click from the toolbar button. Fixes ship fast. You can also hide it yourself today in Settings › My rules.

Can I still watch one Short someone sends me?

On YouTube, yes. The blocked page offers to open that one Short as a normal video. Turn on “Let shared links play” in Settings and a shared Short opens that way on its own. The feed stays blocked either way. Instagram Reels and other short videos stay blocked; pause that site for 5 minutes if you need to watch one.
